Storyline

A group of animal rights activists breaks into a medical research facility having experimented on chimps. They aim to free the apes even after a warning of a present researcher telling the group the animals are aggressive and contagious because they got infected with rage. At about the same time Jim has an accident with his bicycle. 28 days later. It´s a sunny day and our protagonist wakes up in a hospital, completely naked and alone. Here does his journey starts and the viewer explores a new London with all its dangers.

My Opinion

In times when Jumpscare is the method of choice in horror films to scare, the beginning of the film cuts out even after almost two decades. The fear is created by the atmosphere and the uncertainty of what is going to happen. It lays the foundation for the overall tone of the film. Zombies are really scary here. When you watch the movie, you don't think, "How cool it would be to have a zombie apocalypse". When the "undead" appears, they are always a threat. But the film also addresses the threat posed by other people, so that the survivors are exposed to the danger of the zombies as well as the other survivors. The other thing that was pretty new in the 2000s was the fact, that the Zombies aren't undead. They are hard to kill but with enough firepower, a headshot is not necessary to kill the rage-infected humans which also leads to the end of the movie. As hopeless the situation is in many scenes as promising is the future because time will bring the cure of this zombie apocalypse. Overall the "realism" and logic of the storyline, as well as the figures, make "28 Days later..." to one of my most favorite Zombie movies ever.

Good Ideas	Getting good equipment and armor. Hitting sb. until he’s dead. Kill your friend without a wink if he’s infected.
Logical error	Having an armor + helmet and leave everything at home before you leave Why is a research center with a deathly virus so easy to break in?
Best scene	When the father transforms. A really emotional scene especially from the father who knows that he´ll become a zombie and tries to save his daughter by pushing her away.
Zombiekill of the movie	Using a Molotov Cocktail to set them on fire and finish them with a gas station.

Fazit

Great movie which is still so much fun to watch. Running zombies which can scare the shit out of you.
